What is a Fresh 48 photography session and why you need one!
You may have heard of the term “Fresh 48”, but what exactly is it?
Fresh 48 is a newborn photography session that takes place in the first 48 hours of your new baby’s life. These sessions are photographed at the hospital or birth centre before you are discharged to go home. Fresh 48 sessions capture all those special first moments that will quickly become a foggy, distant memory as your baby grows.
Fresh 48 hospital sessions are all about capturing the rawness, pure love and emotion in those first few days, not about having the perfect outfit and your hair and makeup done. Your session will be captured more documentary style, although lighting conditions in hospital rooms aren’t always ideal so we may move you a little to make the most of the light available.
Bringing a baby into the world is one of the most important events of your life and deserves to be beautifully documented.
Why you absolutely need a Fresh 48 session!
Believe me, those first few days are so fleeting! They go by in a haze of sleep deprivation, feedings and nurse checks. Before you know it, each day your little baby is already growing and changing. You will want to remember this stage and just how little they were, for the rest of your lives.
Fresh 48 sessions are great to capture siblings meeting for the first time. Your children will develop a lifelong bond like no other. Capturing the moment your little ones first meet is something beautiful, and something they will treasure and hold on to. We will also capture all the little details, like those little yawns, flaky skin, wisps of hair, and their tiny fingers and toes.
You don’t have to choose between a Fresh 48 and a studio Newborn session, you can absolutely do both! This way you can capture all the newness of your baby in their first few days, and also come for some beautiful studio portraits at a few weeks old after you have had time to settle in back home.
