PREPARATION GUIDE
MOTHERHOOD MINI SESSIONS
I am so excited that you are coming to our Motherhood Mini sessions this year!
To help you get the best experience possible, I have created a preparation guide to ensure we have a successful shoot.
Let’s get started
HOW TO PREPARE
Location – Plan ahead of time and use google maps to determine how long it may take to arrive at the studio, or the outdoor location depending on your session choice. Also, take into consideration any traffic that may affect travel time.
Arrive on time – Your assistance with arriving on time is so important for a successful day. If you arrive a few minutes early for your session, I will ask that you wait outside whilst other families are being photographed, as other clients get distracted, and there is not enough room in the studio for more than one family at a time.
Images – Mini-sessions run for 20 minutes maximum to provide you with the best images. I will ensure you get various images of your children and family and provide you with a full gallery to select your favourites.
No Perfume – Please refrain from wearing any perfume or cologne on the day. I am allergic. I know it is a part of many people’s routine as they are getting ready, so please make yourself a reminder and be sure to tell your partner, or other family members attending.
No mobiles – During the session, you are not permitted to take any pictures with your mobile phone while I am shooting. It is a quick session and this will distract children and make them look away. Do not stress, I will be providing you with professional images. At the end of the session, if we have time, you’re more than welcome to do a behind-the-scenes video for social media.
WHAT TO WEAR
For Mums, we have a beautiful collection of dresses you are welcome to borrow on the day. The dress will need to be selected prior to the day, so that we have it out and ready for you to put on. There will not be time to spend trying on different dresses. Most of our dresses are light in colour and many have the option to be worn off the shoulder. Please wear seamless nude underwear and strapless bra if the chosen dress requires it. You can see the collection of dresses here.
It is always good to pick coordinating colours that go well together. You don’t necessarily need to be all matching in identical colours. Mix it up a little with textures too but stick to your colour palette. You can see some inspirations here on Pinterest. No logos if possible. You want your images to be timeless.
Remember, if your children are comfortable in their clothes, then they will be relaxed and calm during the session.
As it is a 20 minute session we don’t have time outfit changes.
Again, a reminder to please not wear any perfume or cologne on the day – thank you!
TOP TIPS
Arrive early! This way you are not stressed and all relaxed.
Plan your children’s sleep / awake time for that day if your session is during their sleep time.
Feed your children before the session to ensure their full and happy. Arrive a little earlier and do this in the car if needed. Feel free to bring anything as bribery.
No eating in studio. Bring any supplies for your children to use after the session (snacks, treats, drinks, etc)
Clean your children’s faces (eyes, nose, mouth), it’s amazing what is always left behind. I have wipes in the studio for you to use too.
Fingernails, hair cleaned and cut. I will not be editing things like fixing chipped nail polish or fly away hairs.
Remove all hair ties or kids watches from wrists before the shoot to ensure no marks are there.
Parents don’t forget about yourselves!! Do your hair and make-up before the session.
